Hello,

recently acquired 2 Vintage Airstream Bubble Trailers in very good condition, both we believe are from the 1950s, one is 25 ft long, the other closer to 40 ft. long, located in Topanga, Ca which is an area located between Santa Monica and Malibu.

We'd like to sell them to someone who is interested in living in them, serious inquiries only, email at ttiverss@yahoo.com

Thank you

22' Argossy

Can anyone here give their reaction to a good conditioned 22 foot Argossy, late 70s model, trailer? It seems to all be in good working order.

Description: Recently refurbished, Brakes and wheel bearings serviced when new tires installed. New Carrier air conditioner, water pump, 3 way frig, new converter, factory drapes, TV antenna with booster and cable TV hookup, AM/FM CD player with remote, new toilet. Loads of closet and storage space. Original owners manual states dry weight as 3360lbs and hitch weight 560 Lbs. Holds 30 gal fresh water.

What are they worth? What would be a fair price?

i only have two but they seem to be the original '69 and i just have no idea how to work them.

i have to cut stripped screws and remove pieces of floor, so i am in for it, but it would be nothing so long as i can take a bath in a great big 3/4 tub!

Anyone know how these things work, i am pretty quick but these have me licked.

High Humidity Question

I've moved to Olympia Wa and my airstream is sweating on the inside like a first timer on a treadmill. The Room Humidity is @ about 75% to 88%. My heater does not run right now. We lost a mattress to mildew. I have started a couple of buckets with calcium cloride to help gather some water out of the atmosphere. next is a dehumidifier, every hardware store is sold out. Tells you something? Any other ideas?
Thanks, Groovepool

Do you decorate your Airstream for Christmas?

The first year we had ours at this house, we had it in the driveway--and I decorated it up with a large number of lights. Looked pretty good.

I later got the suggestion of a co-worker to make something up to add a nose cone on the front, somehow, and fins at the back--put a big Santa on the roof, and a sign "North Pole or Bust".

(I haven't figured out how to do that just yet.)

But does anyone else have some great decoration stories, or even better, pictures?

is it okay to use a compound/steel wool on the skin of the trailer. i have three different cleaners and polishes from airstream.com, but i have a couple of trouble spots on the skin and it looks like a compound and/or steel wool might take out the imperfections. i'd appreciate your insight.

i recently purchased a vintage airstream--a 1960 24 ft. tradewind. i camped in it the first weekend i bought it, and a second weekend at bonnaroo 2004 (excellent music festival).

i do not have covered parking for it yet, and in serious rain, water is getting in (pretty sure it's getting in through the air conditioner). is this an enivitable situation with an uncovered airstream (and whatever other RVs there are out there?

yesterday, i hooked it up to electricity to run the air conditioner to get moisture out. after running for about an hour or so i went back to the turn everything off and everything was already off. we checked the breakers in the house and they were tripped, but i never got power in the airstream back after resetting them. is it something simple? is there a power breaker and/or fuse in the trailer that could have blown?

if you can offer any insight i'd appreciate it.

thanks,

glen

I just got a 1962 Globetrotter! Its a real piece of shit but I'm so excited I want to puke. Just had to tell someone who might give a damn. Now my front yard really resembles that other tribe (trailer-trash), he he. In its current state it goes well with my spare tire, decomposing wood, encroaching ivy, weather-worn and disfunctional motorcycle and various rotting cardboard boxes with whoknowswhat in them. I'm so proud. I'll post a picture for the group here when I get done drinking in celebration and my hangover wears off.

I've already been to forum and other restoration sites but I'm curious to see if any of yous have done any eXXXtreme restore/remodel burnerwise to yers. Alas, i'm not hardcore enough to give up my house yet but I'm doing my best to drop real estate values in my neighborhood ;) Cheers, 'streamer people, now I'm one of you too.

One more quession fer ya, have any of you attempted the full on burner rally crash? It may be time to bridge to gap between generations but i hear those older folks are wacked out on hardcore drugs. Hmmm.

I love it. Just floored it with bamboo hardwoods. I need to do a lot to it, like fixing leaks, replacing window seals, and how the hell do I figure out the plumbing? I can get hot water and water pressure, but I have no idea how to drain the tanks or hook up city water. I think someone retrofitted it, so the manual doesn't seem to match....
